(AFP Press Release, June 23) Alcoa Pharma-Pouch® P1221

In response to the trend toward increased potency, extended release drugs that must pass F-1 and F-2 child resistant protocol testing, Alcoa Packaging introduced today Alcoa Pharma-Pouch® P1221. Alcoa's P1221 offers a quantum leap in tear resistance and is ideal for the most demanding child resistant applications. Pharma-Pouch® P1221 is a 4-ply film/poly/foil/poly structure. This combination provides significant improvements in tear and puncture resistance over similar film/foil structures. Alcoa Pharma-Pouch® P1221 pouches can be opened only with scissors, an opening feature that thwarts children who typically resort to biting or tearing, actions that will prove fruitless with P1221. The exterior film is clay coated to give it the familiar white background of many paper-out containing pouch materials used in the pharmaceutical industry today. Alcoa Packaging's Pharma-Pouch® P1221 can be surface printed and overcoated in multiple colors for brand identification and is available for sampling purposes.

Alcoa Packaging, based in Richmond, Virginia, manufactures a variety of packaging materials including extrusion and adhesive laminated pouch materials, overwraps and linerstock, blister lidding foil, thermoformed trays, cable wrap, plastic shrink sleeve body labels, shrink film and laminated foil. These packaging materials serve the world's leading consumer products manufacturers within the pharmaceutical, medical, food & beverage, and industrial markets.
